2024 Year in Review

At the beginning of 2024, I wrote out the year’s mantra: I deserve to live the life I want to live. And while that’s still true, my perspective on it has changed. When I wrote that, I’ll admit I was only thinking about my career. Your job shouldn’t be your only focus. I can have it all with my job, my family, my friends, my hobbies.

I recently wrote out my favorite memories and pieces of media I enjoyed in 2024. Here are my favorite memories in no particular order:

• Thanksgiving with my mom’s side of my family

• San Diego Comic Con

• Started therapy

• My first full year with my dog, Pistachio

• Started going to a local book club at Dog Eared Books

• Weekly video game nights with my friend

• Met Brian Lee O’Malley at Comic Con

• Drew the climax of my webcomic, Dear Samar

• Ran a printing workshop for the first time

• Road trips around Iowa trying to complete the Iowa Indie Bookshop Tour

• My brother’s graduation and celebration

• Started my Youtube channel

• Won a design contest

• Rebranded my socials

• Trained Pistachio lots of new tricks, and his separation anxiety is a lot better

• Went to Disneyland for the first time

• Started collage journaling

• Visited Tulip Time in Pella

• Made my “Choose Wisely” print, which is the biggest print I’ve done at home

• Went to the Spongebob anniversary live read at Comic Con

• Started meditation

• Went to Okoboji with family
