Watch Me Speed Carve!

The end of July came quickly! Since I have a vacation coming up, I decided to do a quick speed carve and print video of my newest design, “Choose Wisely”. This print is a continuation of my mushroom series. When I was reading about mushrooms, I found that there were a lot of lethal mushrooms that look like nonlethal mushrooms. Because of that, there’s a huge level of risk to foraging. In my piece, I highlighted three mushrooms: the grey knight (deadly version is the dapperling), the honey fungus (funeral bell), and the blusher (panthercap).

This past month I also got interested in antique astrological illustrations. I don’t believe in astrology myself, but I loved how intricate and detailed astrological illustrations can be! When I was designing this print, I kept thinking about a tarot reader warning their patron to “Choose Wisely” to pick their path. One could bring greatness, the other, death.
